“I respect discipline is not ordered but should be executed and when someone else has taken time to believe in me why should I not be capable of fulfilling my dreams and earning a college degree. It
Began Here
My name is
Angela Wright and I began my education at El Centro College where I graduated obtaining
an Associate’s degree in paralegal studies. I was uncertain of the obstacles I would
face but I was determined to accomplish furthering my education and committing the
time it would take.
Upon arrival at
El Centro I thoroughly researched all the campus resources available to assist me
in the completion of my task. The first step was a visit to get acquainted with
my career advisor Velma Allen who stole my heart she invested the time to
compassionately understand my concerns and never failed to further research a
plan for my success.
The
Faculty Mentors
I would like to
pay homage to a few who encouraged me along the way at El Centro College: in Computer
Sciences professor Ayllon who emphasized about learning, implementing, and the
importance of technology; Paralegal professors- Tucker, Wiley, Knox, Brewer,
Espinoza, Cosgrove at times they were challenging me only to bring out the best
in me.
In acknowledgement of the math
professors who went above and beyond Troy Furlough and Frederick Osei-Frimpong
who run a tight shift but they believe you can do it, English professor- Carrie
Sanford is destined to unleash your writing creativity and Sociology professor -Rahime
Malik Howard who will challenge your thinking in a world of consistent change. The
following professors portrayed zealous knowledge and compassion in the class room
that gave me the drive to never give up when times were tough.
The
Push
I was very
fortunate to have had the opportunity to utilize the services that were at my
advantage Trio programs and one on one tutorial sessions in critical times when
I would have given up because the challenge required to much time and life’s
adversity would not allow me to complete my college degree.
I am continuously grateful to all my professors who chose to stick around, push and encourage their students to think more and work smarter in a world with limited time and education should not be dismissed as if we don’t have the time.
Today challenge
yourself to manage your time and define what is more important of your life to
avoid wasting a precious mind.
On the
Road to Fulfilling My Dreams
I
respect discipline is not ordered but should be executed and when someone else has
taken time to believe in me why should I not be capable of fulfilling my dreams
and earning a college degree. I have successfully worked in sports radio for the
past 6.5 years, awaiting 3 books for market publications and established a
small business catering to the enrichment of human lives.
My
Quote:
“I will stumble upon rocks and stones and there also would be
adversity to tag along but if I will focus on the prize it will be in my
strength I will raise.”
